Your Wedding in the Anglican Parish of Terrigal

Congratulations on your decision to journey together in marriage.   In your wedding ceremony you will be joined before God, in a spiritual union, publicly proclaiming your love and commitment to one another.   Your wedding is a significant milestone in your lives and will therefore require careful planning, consideration and prayer.

 What is required?

 1. We would assist you in preparation in four ways:

    a. The legal documents: You will need to fill out a 'Notice of Intended Marriage' form which must be lodged with the Priest conducting the wedding at least one month prior to the ceremony. We will provide this form for you. If either of you have been divorced it is necessary to obtain permission to marry from the Bishop of the Anglican Church in this Diocese of Newcastle. After the first meeting with the priest, the priest will write on your behalf and obtain permission.

    b. The ceremony: It is generally encouraged that each couple print an order of service for the occasion. The priest presiding at the ceremony will go through the necessary details to assist you to complete this order of service. All wedding services will be according to the rites of the Anglican Church of Australia. Couples will be able to consult regarding selection of readings, music and prayers.

    c. The preparation: The presiding priest would expect to meet with each couple on two separate occasions to have conversation about relationships and married life. This is general counselling to help couples feel confident when making this important commitment. All counsel is confidential.

    d. The rehearsal: As well as the preparatory counselling, the presiding priest will undertake to organise and conduct a rehearsal in the days leading up to the wedding day. This is done be consultation with the couple and will require the wedding party and any readers or official participants. We understand it is not always possible, but we encourage as many as are able to attend the rehearsal.

What will it cost?

Costs for all weddings booked from the 1st July 2008 will be $750. This cost includes celebrant's fee, church's fees, flower costs, an organist and verger fee and all preparation meetings. Additional meetings or enquiries or conversations with staff and priest will not incur any further costs. A deposit will be required of $50. All accounts must be settled by the day of the rehearsal.
